Recycling of multilayer film waste

During the recycling of PE or PP multilayer film waste with PA6, PA66 or EVOH barrier layers, processing defects such as streaks and gels increasingly occur during extrusion.

Due to the polarity of the polymers, the different flow properties and chemical structure, good homogenization is often not possible. In conventional extruders it is very challenging to achieve the highest product qualities without the addition of additives.

Our solution with

MAXILOOP HP7AB4780COM

The new Gabriel-Chemie MAXILOOP HP7AB4780COM Compatibilizer Masterbatch can make all the difference when processing PIR and PCR multilayer materials!

By adding the masterbatch, homogeneity can be improved by increasing the interfacial adhesion between the different polymers, acting as molecular bridges and ensure better dispersion of the polymer components during processing and improve overall miscibility. This leads to more stable processing conditions, fewer fluctuations in product quality and overall a better visual appearance. In blown film production in particular, fluctuations and instabilities in the bubble can be reduced, thus improving product quality.

In addition, the use of the compatibilizer additive improves the mechanical properties of the extruded films. With the MAXILOOP Compatibilizer series, we are able to provide the right product for the desired application and the required property profile. For example, MAXILOOP UNS7AB5250COM can be used as a compatibilizer for applications that require high transparency. For the processing of film fractions with a content of barrier polymer, our highly reactive MAXILOOP HP7AB5240COM shows significant improvement.

Based on a broad database, our experienced technicians can support a wide range of applications of recycled polymers with the MAXILOOP compatibilizers. Gabriel-Chemie can help with additives like the MAXILOOP Compatibilizer Series to promote your path to a sustainable circular economy.
